12 udenlandske turister på vej til grænsen i Ranong på et visa-trip fik sig en slem overraskelse da deres bus blev stoppet af politiet. Efterfølgende blev disse 12 anbragt bag lås og slå, da de var blevet i thailand udover gyldigheden af deres visum, fra 1-6 dage. De kom til at tilbringe de følgende 5 dage i politiets varetægt, indtil de blev sat fri. rinpoche Citat: Tuesday, February 14, 2006 Ranong 12 finally set free RANONG: “The Ranong 12”, a group of 12 foreign tourists arrested on the morning of February 8 for overstaying their visas, were freed on Sunday. The most that any of the 12 had overstayed was six days. Others were just 24 hours over the limit. During their five-day ordeal they spent the first two nights on dirty police cell floors in Kapoe District and the next two locked up in minibuses on overnight journeys to and from Bangkok, where they were sent to be processed for deportation. The detainees were eventually spared deportation from Bangkok following successful negotiations between their embassies and top Immigration officials in the capital. They were then returned, still under detention, to Ranong, from where they finally left the country under expulsion orders. They then re-entered the country as free men and women on new tourist visas. The arrests have caused confusion and fear among foreign tourists and resident expats, who for years have been able to depart the country after overstaying – within reason – their permit-to-stay by simply paying a 200-baht-a-day fine. One of the 12 arrested, Australian Chris Taylor, 31, told the Gazette today, “We were under arrest the whole time … when we weren’t locked in a cage we were being escorted by Immigration or other police officials … many people did not sleep at all for the whole time … They weren’t giving us information, and when they did give us information they lied to us,” he said. He said that when he finally got back to Phuket, nobody could believe he had been locked up for five days because of a one-day overstay. “The way we were treated was shocking … Some of the food I couldn’t eat; it was just bloody dog food. The Kapoe Police did their best to accommodate us; they tried to make us comfortable. They did their best with the sleeping arrangements, but I don’t think they really knew what was going on. “But the Tourist Police, Immigration Police in Bangkok and especially the Immigration Police in Ranong, none could speak English at all – and they were very rude, treating us like crap,” he said. He said that the day before his tourist visa was set to expire he went to Phuket Immigration, where he was told that a one-day overstay would not cause a problem. “‘Just do a visa run tomorrow and pay a 200-baht fine,’ they told me,” he said, adding that they should have advised him to extend his visa by 10 days then and there as he faced possible arrest as an overstay. Despite all the discomfort, he said he would continue his vacation in Thailand by making new reservations for a flight to Chiang Mai, as his original tickets had expired and were non-refundable. “I am just tired and need to rest for a few days first,” he said. Australian Embassy officials in Bangkok had done an extraordinary job in negotiating with Thai Immigration officials in Bangkok, he added. Another member of the group, Swede Olaf Fredling, also said he would not let the experience put him off vacationing in Thailand. Like his Australian co-detainee, he said the actions of a few didn’t reflect badly on all of Thailand. “But my feet are really bad right now from all the standing around. We never got a chance to lay down … but sure, I am going to stay in Thailand,” he said. Janpen Munsa, owner of the Penphet Visa Run Company, said the arrests were unprecedented in the company’s six-year history and had hurt her business because former customers now feared arrest if they use it. “The company is registered as a visa run business, but they arrested [our customers] – using rude words and bad behavior,” she said, adding that hers is just one of three companies providing the service. “Why was our vehicle pulled over and our overstayed customers singled out?” she wanted to know. Anchalee Praphut, owner of Angelina Travel and Tour Agency, which arranged the visa tour for one of the overstays, said the whole episode had sullied the reputation of the Tourist Police. She had to plead with the police to allow two of the group who were diabetic to have insulin shots, which they had to pay for themselves. She called on the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) to look into the matter, saying that TAT efforts to promote tourism abroad would be all for nothing if the Tourist Police treated foreign tourists so badly after they arrived. Ranong Governor Mekin Methawikul, who was informed of the issue by K. Anchalee, told the Gazette that he had sent a formal request to the head of the Ranong Tourist Police for a report about the incident. He said that the Tourist Police Chief told him that there had been cases of foreigners using the visa runs to smuggle ya bah (methamphetamine) into the country from Burma, so his staff needed to check foreigners on visa runs carefully. As the Tourist Police do not have the authority to stop moving vehicles, they had called on the Highway Police for assistance. Another bus on a visa run that followed shortly thereafter was allowed to pass by because the police did not want to create traffic congestion, the Governor said. Gov Mekin added that, as the arresting officers were low-level police, it was unrealistic to expect them to communicate well in English. “The tour company staff, who speak English, should have explained to the tourists what was going on,” he said. “I admit this type of thing has never before happened in Ranong and I have told the Tourist Police to prevent this kind of thing from happening [again]. Still, I think the officers did their jobs according to procedure,” he said. Meanwhile, a Gazette reader with an expired permit to stay reported that he flew out of Bangkok to Kuala Lumpur on Saturday morning, February 11, with no problems at all – not even a fine. Mindful of the horrific arrests of the tourists in Ranong just three days earlier, he asked Immigration in Bangkok why they were not fining him. "The official smiled and told me that my permit was only a day past its expiry, so no problem. He then stamped my passport with some sort of courtesy stamp and I was on my way to Malaysia." That stamp, seen by the Gazette upon the tourist's return to Phuket from Kuala Lumpur, reads: "Overstayed his visa by one day (not more than 24 hours) and has thus been cleared, as specified under the orders of the Immigration Division 2 Inspector.” Clearly, the Immigration Police – whose job it is to keep an eye on and regulate foreign tourists – do not regard a short overstay as an offence worthy of much celebration, let alone four days of detention. In this, they differ greatly in wisdom and in stature from the Tourist and Highway Police of Ranong. |

Er der ikke kommet nye regle for overstay at man kan bliver uonske i thailand hvis man har mere en tre gange paa et aar. Eller er det noget jeg har misforstaae ? Jeg er saa heldig at jeg kan faaet et aar af gangen og skal saa ikke ud af thailand med bare maade op hver tre mld. Af uransagelige årsager har det jo været sådan i lang tid, at hvis man blot klarede at komme uantastet til et point of embarkation, grænseovergang eller lufthavn, så blev man rutinemæssigt bonget 200 baht per dags overstay uden yderligere kommentarer. Max. var 20K uanset længden af overstay, kendte en nordmand der havde 6 års overstay, der blev afviklet i don muang mod at han betalte selvsamme 20K. Nu lugter artiklen jo langt væk af alvorligt tudefjæs, de var godt nok på overstay men de ville jo lave et visatrip og viske tavlen ren. Så alt skulle jo være iorden??? Personligt har jeg da ikke en skid ondt af dem, selvom de blev nødt til både at blive indlogeret som lokale thailændere og blev nødt til at spise den lokale mad.... gad vide om det ikke er en overtrædelse af menneskerettigheder Der var absolut intet til hinder for at de henvendte sig til de lokale immigrationsmyndigheder og fik en 10 dages forlængelse og således havde undgået denne situation. Forstår ikke hvorfor farang skal have særbehandling når vi overtræder loven. Hvis det var en burmeser der havde gjort det samme, var han blevet deporteret hurtigere end sin egen skygge. rinpoche |

har du selv læst hvad du skriver rinpoche eller også læs artiklen igen , jeg kan ikke se nogen tudefjæs i dette , men tværtimod lugter det lidt mere af at man ønsker at udlændinge ikke er så velkomne mere i thailand uanset hvor de kommer fra , så man griber enhver change til at gøre livet lidt mere surt for dem , jeg tror de fleste af os har prøvet at have overstay , sommetider ikke med vilje men kan skeat der hænder noget så man ikke lige kan komme af sted til tiden , men måske et par tusinde bath til politiet der have stoppet bilen kunne havde gjort underværker man ved jo aldrig , det er jo en af de største bi indtægter politiet har  det er det samme hvis man ryger på gaden i bangkok og smider skoddet så kommer de også farende efter en , det eneste de har glemt i denne kampagne er at sætte flere askebæger op i gaderne så man kunne slukke på behørig vis , men så ryger indtægterne . denne sidste bemærkning skal ses i sammenhæng med at jeg siger måske et par tusinde bath til politiet , så var de ikke røget i brummen |

Hej Kurt Du behoever ikke moede op hver 3. mdr. naar du har 1 aars visa, men de er nogle aber paa emigration, de glemmer at fortaelle folk man bare kan sende papirerne, hver 3. mdr. Sagen som naevnt, om de er blevet uretfaerdig behandlet jeg ved det ikke, men de var paa owerstay og opholdt sig derfor ulovligt i Thailand. Altsaa kan det jo ikke hjaelpe at hyle fordi man blev taget med fingrene i kagekassen. Om de bare kunne have betalt, hvem ved, det kunne jo ogsaa vaere der bare lige skulle statueres et eksempel for at folk ikke helt glemmer der er regler. Visa reglerne som saadan om de er rimelige, det er en hel anden sag og her vil jeg give Jeppe ret, det lugter lidt af.. kom og brug dine penge og forsvind. Jeg mener der staar noget om owerstay paa Ministery of forreign affairs side og at man kan blive naegtet indrejse igen hvis man har owerstay... hmmm 20.000 for 6 aar det er da billigt, rinpoche ved du om han fik karantaene eller indrejse forbud.. Ja nu har jeg da boet her i 2½ aar i starten blev jeg et par gange spurgt om visa, men de sidste 2 aar er der ikke en der har interesseret sig for den, ud over emmigration, naar jeg selv har henvendt mig.le-si |

Jeg tror der har vaeret en aarsag til de er roeget ind, maaske har der vaeret, bad words, altsaa nogle der ikke har vist ydmyghed, maaske er politiet blevet godt sure fordi de stopper en minibus med 12 overstay. altsaa en hel bus fuld Historien med jaba smugling fra Burma holder ikke da de jo var paa vej ud af landet. Overstay er overstay, man risikere at ryge direkte ind og sidde til man kan vise en billet ud af landet, for saa at blive fragtet til lufthavnen, hvis man bliver taget paa gaden. Reglerne siger 200 pr. dag max 20.000 eller ind at sidde 6 maaneder hvis man ikke kan betale. Naar man bliver taget ved udrejse. Ranong Immigration Police, who have announced that they will deport the group, say they are only following r0;standard proceduresr1; and will send the 12 to an Immigration detention center in Bangkok r0;soonr1;. The group were arrested by a team of six Highway and Tourist Police officers at about 11 on Wednesday while on their way to Ranong and Burma for a r0;visa runr1; in the well-known r0;Big Busr1;. The bus was in Kapoe District, just 40 kilometers from the Ranong Immigration office, when it was stopped and the 12 were separated from the other passengers on board and placed in custody. The most that any of the 12 had overstayed was six days. Speaking from his prison cell, one of the detainees, a 31-year-old Australian man on his second trip to Thailand, told the Gazette: r0;I canr17;t believe what has happened. Among those facing deportation were English, Korean, German, Vietnamese, French, Italian and Swedish nationals, none of whom had overstayed by more than six days, he admitted. He stressed that the arrest, confinement and deportation of the tourists did not reflect a change in Ranong Immigrationr17;s long-standing and relaxed policy when it comes to overstays. r0;Itr17;s true that if people arrive at our office and have overstayed their visas we just fine them 200 baht per day of overstay. But it was [another police division] that arrested them, not us. If they hadnr17;t been arrested, we would have just fined them as usual. r0;The case went to court, where the judge rendered a decision. They were sent to us by the police and we are just following the provisions of the Immigration Act by transferring them to Bangkok for deportation,r1; Capt Weerachai said. Siripakorn Cheawsamoot, Assistant Director of TATs Region 4 Office in Phuket, said he believed the arrests would have no impact on tourism as long they were legal. The officers inspected the passports of the 34 foreign passengers and found that 12 had overstayed their visas. They separated the 12 from the others, who were allowed to continue on to Ranong. The 12 were taken off in a police truck and confined in the local police cells. Jutarat Payonchart, an emplo yee of Phenpat Co Ltd, told the Gazette from the Ranong courthouse this afternoon that the police had overreacted by incarcerating the visa runners. r0;Why did they have to keep them overnight in a cell? Jutharat said she was preparing to pay fines for those who had not brought along enough money to cover the unexpected expense r11; but by 5:30 pm the following day they were still at Ranong Provincial Court trying to pay the fines. One of those arrested, a 31-year-old Australian man whose 30-day tourist visa expired the day before, told the Gazette: r0;It was terrible. I am so dirty now r11; I need to change my clothes. They say we broke the law and all this stuff. r0;In my case, on Tuesday I went to [Phuket] Immigration and said, r16;This is the last day of my visa, it expires tomorrow, what should I do?r17; and they said, r16;Go and do a visa run tomorrow and pay a 200 baht overstay.r17; r0;Thatr17;s exactly what I [was doing], but then we get pulled over by the Tourist Police and Highway Police and they make a huge problem for us,r1; he said. He added that he found it dangerous and embarrassing to be forced to squat in the back of a cramped, hot police truck, which transported the overstayers along the highway with a police escort, sirens blaring. The unexpected delay had also caused him to missed his flight out of the country, he said. Pol Maj Songproad Sirikul, the new head of the Ranong Tourist Po lice, told the Gazette that his office had received a report that a business was assisting illegal aliens by bringing them to Burma. He said he ordered his men to check into this and, when they did, it turned out to be true. r0;The police arrested them because they broke the law,r1; he said. He denied K. Jutaratr17;s claims that the officers asked for 5,000 baht from each tourist in exchange for letting them go. r0;I think thatr17;s impossible. Det er meget sjovt med de mange forskellige forklaringer fra officielt hold. Først går man specifikt efter visa-runners, da det så ser dårligt ud i pressen er det pludselig p.g.a af narkotika. Et andet sted har jeg læst at undskyldninger var, at man var begyndt at holde mere øje med busser i det hele taget for turisternes skyld
Det er ikke hvad du gør - det er måden du gør det på

Der var beskidt i fængslet og der var moskitoer, og de kunne ikke finde knappen til room service. Maden var hundeæde som de ikke kunne spise og de kunne ikke komme til at ligge ned. Konklusion: Tudefjæs. Jeg synes de lefler for medlidenhed og at de er blevet uretfærdigt behandlet på trods af deres brud på visa-reglerne. rinpoche |

Hvis der er nogle herinde, der er kommet i Sakon Nakhon for en 10-15 år siden, så vil vedkommende garanteret kende ham jeg taler om Haakon. mvh rinpoche |

Rinpoche du maa da vide at hvide mennesker har krav paa saerbehandling. Det er jo ikke nogen halvsorte aber der er kommet til Europa der her tales om men rigtige kristne hvide mennesker som har beaeret Thailand med deres besoeg og saa skal de behandles saadant. Det er sgu da for daarligt. Saaledes goer man ikke i Danmark,man klarer problemet ved at slet ikke lukke folk ind. Dansk Thai Sprogskole underviser i dansk på en måde der kan forståes. Har over 20 års erfaring i sprogundervisning.

Jeppe mine bemerkninger var ikke stilet til dig eller nogen anden specielt. Blot en betragtning af det fakta at blev en udlaenning en dag laengere i Danmark end vedkommende var berettiget til ville helvede bryde loes. Her bliver vi lidt gnavne og sure hvis vi ikke bare kan komme og gaa som det passer os. Vi ses paa Soendag til Thai. MVH Clyde Dansk Thai Sprogskole underviser i dansk på en måde der kan forståes.
