The Trade Department at the Royal Danish Embassy, Bangkok is expanding and therefore looking for an additional Commercial Officer. Today our team consists of the Commercial Counsellor heading the department, two Senior Commercial Officers, a Commercial Assistant and one Danish trainee. We assist small as well as larger Danish companies, some new to the region, some already well established. We charge for our services from the Danish companies (approx.. 125€ pr. hour) and the position has a target of approx.. 60,000€ annually. Core sectors are healthcare, food and food processing, shipping, design/fashion, environmental technology, services, production etc.

The new Commercial Officer will primarily work with market research, business partner search, liaison with commercial and official/government partners plus rules and regulations regarding foreigners’ sales and investments and business/company set-up. The focus will be both Myanmar as an emerging market as well as the opportunities in Thailand. A large degree of flexibility regarding tasks will be expected, however, specialised experience or interest in sectors like environmental technology, retail, healthcare etc. would be an asset.

It is important that the Officer has a genuine interest in customer relations, sales and proactive networking, yet having the understanding of working in a political environment. It would also be hugely beneficial if the Officer has knowledge of the Burmese language, the business environment in Myanmar, Danish companies, Danish language and Danish business culture, but these are not requirements.

Qualifications:

• A relevant university degree. An MBA from abroad is a strong plus
• A minimum of 2-3 years of experience in the commercial field, for example from foreign companies in Thailand or abroad
• Experience from a multicultural environment
• Excellent verbal and written English skills
• Verbal and written Thai language skills
• Business-mindedness
• A distinct independence and sense of responsibility in the work approach
• Outgoing and service-minded approach to (potential) customers

The Embassy is offering a two-year contract with the possibility of extension - a competitive package, reflecting the candidate’s level of experience, performance expectations and qualifications. This will consist of a base salary, bonus and other benefits.
