Dette var på Bangkok Post Website i dag: SUVARNABHUMI All flights mustuse new airport from Sept 28 AMORNRAT MAHITTHIROOK Suvarnabhumi international airport will handle all regular commercial flights into Bangkok from Sept 28, caretaker Prime Minister Thaksin Shinawatra announced yesterday. Mr Thaksin, who chaired a meeting of the Suvarnabhumi airport development committee yesterday, based his announcement on briefings he received on progress in the airport's construction. Progress and system checks justified the confidence that Suvarnabhumi could take over all regular commercial operations from Don Muang airport in one go at 3am on Sept 28, he said. He had ordered Airports of Thailand Plc (AoT) to inform all airlines flying into Bangkok of the decision. A plan for Don Muang airport to serve low-cost airlines had been cancelled, Mr Thaksin said. "All regular commercial flights will switch to Suvarnabhumi, while Don Muang airport will, from then on, serve only government and military flights, along with private and charter flights," he said. Don Muang could be used to reduce the workload of Suvarnabhumi in the future if the new airport reaches its full capacity of serving 45 million passengers annually, he said. Don Muang's air passenger volume stands at 39 million annually. Caretaker Transport Minister Pongsak Raktapongpaisal expected Suvarnabhumi to be at full capacity in three years. The first international terminal building and the domestic terminal at Don Muang would be maintained for possible future use. The second international terminal would be developed into a museum and exhibition complex. Mr Pongsak said expanding Suvarnabhumi had not been discussed seriously yet to protect the price of AOT shares. Ahead of Sept 28, Thai Airways International, Bangkok Airways, PB Air, Nok Air, One-Two-Go and Thai AirAsia would direct some of their non-connecting domestic flights to land at Suvarnabhumi from July 29 for real tests. But flights out of Bangkok would depart from Don Muang as usual. There would be enough public transport services and facilities available to serve passengers of the selected flights from July 29 onwards, and the passengers would also receive special certificates to mark their early appearance at the new airport, said Mr Pongsak. Så den er god nok, lufthavnen åbner på et eller andet tidspunkt. |

>From The Nation Carriers air test flight schedules Suvarnabhumi Airport will get busy on July 29 when six local airlines conduct 13 commercial test flights ahead of the planned opening on September 28. "We want to extend the opportunity to Thais in all parts of the country to join the historic commercial test flights," said Chotisak Asapaviriya, president of Airports of Thailand Plc. "They will be the first passengers to use this airport." AOT will give passengers on these flights special fare air tickets, souvenirs and certificates. Thai Airways International, Nok Air, Thai AirAsia, Orient Thai, PB Air and Bangkok Airways have already submitted their flight plans to AOT. They will not be charged user fees and they will also receive free services from the Aeronautical Radio of Thailand and Thai Aviation Refuelling Co Ltd - the 90-per-cent owned subsidiary of Bangkok Aviation Fuel Services Plc. The airport has been in the works for more than 40 years, but construction delays and claims of graft have repeatedly postponed its opening - first scheduled for September 2005. Caretaker Prime Minister Thaksin Shinawatra said on Monday that the opening would not be delayed again and operations would start on September 28. After that, the current Bangkok International Airport will be used only by personal jets, small jets and chartered flights. The government hopes the new airport, designed to initially serve up to 45 million passengers a year, will surpass rivals Singapore and Malaysia as the region's most important hub. THAI plans to test three flights, said Vasing Kittikul, executive vice president for commercial affairs. They are TG1881 from Suvarnabhumi to Phuket using a Boeing 747-400, TG1882 from Phuket to Suvarnabhumi using a Boeing 747-400, and TG2772 from Chiang Mai to Suvarnabhumi to Phuket using an Airbus A300-600. "We're quoting special rates for any interested travellers," he told reporters. Nok Air will operate two flights - DD6700 from Chiang Mai to Suvarnabhumi and DD6701 from Suvarnabhumi to Hat Yai. Other flights are Orient Thai's OX127 from Chiang Mai to Suvarnabhumi and OX269 from Suvarnabhumi to Phuket, Thai AirAsia's FD3361 from Udon Thani to Suvarnabhumi and FD3151 from Suvarnabhumi to Narathiwat, PB Air's 9Q867 from Lampang to Suvarnabhumi and 9Q878 from Suvarnabhumi to Nakhon Phanom, and Bangkok Airways' PG311 from Trat to Suvarnabhumi and PG145 from Suvarnabhumi to Koh Samui Det er sjovt som der er forskellige udmeldinger ,med antal af forventede passager antal fra 39-45 millioner bamsen |

angående kapaciteten i bangkoks nye lufthavn så er den allrede bygget for lille fra starten, det skyldes at hele lufthavnen som helhed har en kapacitet på 45 mill passagerer , men dog er der et lille minus i denne beregning, nemlig at den nye lufthavn kun får 54 airbridges, den gamle har 64 og chaing airport i singapore har 108, desuden er der IKKE nogen domestic del i den nye lufthavn ??? Netop hjemkommet hertil morgen kan jeg fortælle at de thailandske aviser skriver, at der skal bygges en ny terminal i Suvarnabhumi specielt til lavprisruterne. De nuværende bygninger er ikke blevet forsikrede og den ene startbane har ikke fåte fræset riller til afløb af regnvand. (Der sparede man 10 mill Baht) Den internationale luftfartsprganisation har ikke giver tilladelse til at lufthavnen bebyttes til passagertrafik, men man forventer stadig en dispensation til de planlagte testflyvninger med passagerer på lørdag. mvh jc Boet i Bangkok 1980-1983.
